L'Daialogue CO-SIGNS Jay Electronic-who?????

Yes,

If you have been catching some of the new buzzing artists (other than myself), you should know that Jay Electronica is the next "IT" artist coming out of the South (New Orleans....Magnolia Projects, specifically). Jay Electronica has a resume going out of the door and a lot people don't even know that he is going after the job. And just because he's from the SOUTH does NOT mean that he is a "bling-bling, pistol-poppin'" rapper.

Homey is very progressive to me and I feel like this is the direction that the South is going in....so, check his stats up to now:

The very first track/production on Nas' Untitled (N*****)album...that was nothing...you know 250k sold. Wow...especially now.

A crazy buzz with his "What Tha' F*ck Is A Jay Electronica?" mixtape...a little something, something....over few thousand downloads....like upper-50k.

The Bayou Classic mixtape with Lil' Wayne....hearsay....but VERY INTERESTING HEARSAY. I can't wait until November then...

So, check out some words about the man with the official co-sign (and some shameless plugging of the new Bluff City Daialogue 2...GET THAT!!!!!!!!!):

MIDIMarc's Fresh Produce Week 4 featuring MIDIMom (He's killing it, mane)

*** Shouts out to MIDIMarc for these Fresh Produce joints, mane. This is what I ride to...straight MIDI snippets. Plus, I need to get back on my hosting game because MIDIMom is easily in the Top 10 for her "motherly" style and honest, blunt truth embedded in the beats. Check out the blog, though. ***

I'm Back!!!! This week we have an extra special guest. Yes ladies and mostly gentlemen (only a few female rappers on the email list) MIDI Mom is our host for this week. She took time out from telling me to get a real job to show her baby boy some support...she always supports everything I do..so its no surprise that she would agree to host this week joint. I told her that it was her chance to say every stereotypical hip-hop term she could think of on the spot..she did a good job...I think she even made a reference to raising the roof..HAHA

Once again...Emcees and Femcees...I present to you Week 4.

1. I Feel Like Crying - People ask where I get the names of my beats. Remember that you herd it here. All of my beats are named after the song I sampled

MIDIMARC'S FRESH PRODUCE WEEK 3-HOSTED BY L'DAIALOGUE

*Straight off the homey Midi Marc's website...check my mane out. And Midi....it's L'Daialogue...L'D-a-i-a-l-o-g-u-e....lol. My nigga got the BEETS!!!!

Off of www.midimarc.blogspot.com

Whats goin on folks. I'm back once again with the Fresh Produce. This weeks joint is hosted by Mr. North Memphis himself...no..not Project Pat...he was busy wondering why people aren't buying "Walking Bank" roll (worst Pat album ever BTW)...so I got L'Daialogue Dicaprio from OvaGround Soundz. Special shouts out to him, and again thanks to everyone who is hitting me up on the email and on the cell. PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD...thats gonna help me out even more than the money.....oh yeah...money helps also...lol. Anyone whos been watching the news and the gas stations has seen the prices go up. This is exactly why my beats are for the low. I have a lot of folks telling me not to sell the joints so cheap, but hell...folks need beats..and they don't have dough for these super high ass prices I see a lot of other folks charging for lame quality. Young Jeezy said it best.....who would've thought Jeezy would've ever said anything worth a damn..lol - "Its a recession....err body's broke"

1. Its Down To That - Yall might notice a diffence and sound from here on out. I've been paid a visit by the ghost of Pimp C, so I've been using more organ.......and sipping syzurp...haha.....is he joking?
http://www.zshare.net/audio/1883964438d692c7/

2. Average Guy - yeah..its called Average Guy..but its not for the Average Rapper...you're gonna need some skills to really put your stank on this...otherwise you'll just get a bunch of comments about the song like - "damn that beat is dope...who did that"..lol
http://www.zshare.net/audio/18839324d46ed22f/

3. Here I Go Again - If yall are sleeping on Smokey Robinson....STOP IT!!! On top of him writing some of the greatest songs of all time..he makes them also.......so Here I Go Again with another banger.
http://www.zshare.net/audio/188394615530a1de/

4. Misunderstood - This Nina Simone sample has been used a nice bit, but I put a completely different spin on things....a little violin...and some synth made my cypher complete
http://www.zshare.net/audio/18839397450f725e/

5. Last but not least - Epic Horns - I had fun with this joint. It made the guy upstairs a little angry because it was late and the bass woke him up......sorry about that...lol
http://www.zshare.net/audio/188395612aa10032/

Bonus - Project Pat featuring Chrome - Raised In The Projects Remix

http://www.zshare.net/audio/18840443778babf7/

Once agian shouts out to the homie L'Daialogue for hosting this weeks joint. Make sure to check us out this January at the SEA Awards....DJ Dyce, DJ Cannon Banyon, DJ Shekeese The Beast, and yours truly are all nominated for awards. All of the beats posted in here are available and ready for a good home. The prices are low....how low exactly...tell which joint you're trying to cop and we'll work something out.

**ATTENTION** A KILL YO' SELF ALERT-Aight...Courtney Love. Play your Yoko Ono role, okay!

Now,

Hey...I actually watched this year's VMA's. I didn't care either way how good (or bad) they actually turned out to be. But, I did happen to run into this Courtney Love blog (you know...Kurt Cobain's wife??? The guy from Nirvana) commenting on the annual MTV show.

Now, this is a direct quote (or some direct quotes) from Ms. Love about this year's VMA's:

* "..didnt go to the "VMAS" as we used to call them but theyve gotten so fucking Urban"

* " how stinking and vile to high fucking hell is music right now..."

Let's stop at the "urban" part.

Yeah, I know. You're probably thinking why is this EVEN on the Ovaground blog?

But, for a minute...just keep it 100% funky. This (fill in the blank with an expletive) is trippin'!!!

Who are you? The woman who successfully killed the Nirvana legacy??? Please.

I hope those "urban" rants was meaning that it was "too much" Hip-Hop. Or you know how white people say...too many "Black" artists???

I'm not making this into a race argument but it is SO funny how white people mention that something isn't "rock" enough, "blues" enough and it's too "urban" or too "ghetto". Black people created if not all of that so-called music that they idolize today so to criticize is a bittersweet irony.

Mrs. Love needs to play her Yoko Ono role.

Yoko Ono was John Lennon (of the Beatles) wife. If you ask any fan, you could conclude that she was one of the main reasons the Beatles broke up before Lennon died.

And that is it. The whole point. Play your position.

I don't want to hear you talk about nothing when you are participating in a music that my people created. I don't want to hear about you at all. You are only famous because of your husband just like Yoko Ono. You are only rich because of your husband just like Yoko Ono. People HATE you because you (expletive)-ed up one of the greatest band back catalogues in Rock history JUST LIKE Yoko Ono.

So, PLEASE shut up Courtney with your heroin-cocaine using, weed-smoking, X-pill poppin' witch!!!! Before I send one of those "urban" sistas at your (expletive) immediately. And they will show what "urban" is.

Thank You.

MIDIMarc Nominated for Southern Entertainment Award

It's a very well known fact that with much work comes much reward. South Carolina's own MIDIMarc has been nominated for Best Producer at the 2009 Southern Entertainment Awards and he has definitely been working. From his recent South Carolina’s Beat Street Battles, it was rumored that MIDI actually threw out vegetable “beets” to his challengers as his 808-laced beats provided him with an easy win in that contest this past May.

With placements on unsigned N'Telligence's "Black Boy Lost" collaborating with the likes of Fat Rat tha Czar, Dan Johns, Preach, Spectac (The Corner of Spectac & 9th), Diablo Archer, Seven (of The Lost Colony), and many other talented artist in South and North Carolina…MIDI is ready to step out and conquer the Hip-Hop scene. It is also rumored that MIDIMarc and L'Daialogue DiCaprio have a very, very, very special project coming soon.

Congratulations to MIDIMarc from Ovaground SounDZ and get familiar with the man. Also, vote for man on http://www.southernentawards.com/ballot/vote.html.

Memphis BEATS, Atlanta Heat and New Inside Chess Moves To Do

Memphis BEATS, Atlanta Heat and New Inside Chess Moves To Do
By D.M Becton

Look at Miami. Rick Ross, Plies and Flo Rida.

Look at Atlanta. T.I., Ludacris and Young Jeezy.

Look at Houston. Slim Thug, Paul Wall and Mike Jones.

Everytime I talk to anyone at home about the local rap music scene, I get varying answers. You still have some people that think that Three 6 Mafia ACTUALLY controls the cities ariwaves (well, not counting Hot 107.1 FM...but that's not confirmed per se). Then, you have some people that tell me that there just isn't a true sense of unity in the city. I would agree but that statement can be answered with a yes and a no.

The veteran rappers are either disconnected, obselete, or have so much historical bad blood between each other that they will never attempt to do any record together. I could never imagine a Gangsta Pat and Three 6 Mafia song or a Kinfolk Kia Shine and Three 6 Mafia song (especially after Three 6 recently dissed Kia Shine at a autograph signing at Cat's Music in Memphis in retalliation for a previous diss on video and on Shine's Street Wars mixtapes). I mean the guy that got the first major record label deal with the self-proclaimed Kings of Memphis? How big would that be? What about a collaboration with our last viable major label artist with his new deal on Universal/Motown? Are they only dreams?

But, them like many other rappers in the city have dissed Three 6 Mafia and burned a major bridge with one of Memphis' most visible artists. Now, symbolically I'm not saying you HAVE to take the Hernando De Soto Bridge to get out of the city. You could down I-240 to I-55. You can go out through Millington. You can take I-40 to Nashville. But, you never want to limit your own personal options to move the city forward. Dissing any man, click or record label can do this.

But, there is hope with many of the newer artists coming out of the city. Miscellaneous and Yo Gotti are examples of some rappers that have had a disagreement but has since settled the problem and have since recorded with each other. Also, we can't forget the stunning display of unity shown on the Three 6 Mafia hit single "Stay Fly" featuring Eightball & MJG and Young Buck. This is still the highest Billboard-charted single from any artist/group coming out of Memphis,Tennessee.

But what I see happening now is nothing more than ingenious. I look at Jazze Pha, Drumma Boy and DJ Squeeky and figured out that his is it! The music. The actual beats. The beatmakers. The producers from Memphis are actually keeping the scene alive for all Memphis artists right now. I thank them all for that.

Every person who buys the Young Jeezy "The Recession" album is supporting the legendary Orange Mound veteran DJ Squeeky ("Welcome Back"). If you buy any Ciara album, you most definitely will have Jazze Pha on the boards. Three 6's DJ Paul & Juicy "J" ("Stay Together") on Ludacris' upcoming album "Theatre Of The Mind" is also getting heavy rotation.

What about Dem Franchise Boyz and Joe Blow Da' CEO's gold plaque for his production on their cerified-gold "On Top of Our Game"? T-Mix on The Carter II? What about Carlos "Six July" Broady who produced "What's Beef?" and Notorious B.I.G's "Life After Death" and was a member of the legendary Hitmen production team under the reigns of Puff Daddy?

Even Christopher Gholson, better known as Drumma Boy is a shining example with top-billing production on Lil' Scrappy, Gorilla Zoe, Pastor Troy, Blood Raw, Ludacris T.I. and Young Jeezy's number one single "Put On" off of his "Recession" album.

These are the chess moves that will put Memphis "on" in the upcoming years. Drumma Boy and DJ Squeeky WILL get gold and/or platinium plaques this year. This is what the city need. I just hope with the expansion of our homegrown sound that the city will be in the limelight it needs to be in. And just maybe, we will finally get our time.

Checkmate.

Three 6 Mafia Concert in Los Angeles, Tennessee??

So, I went to a Three 6 Mafia concert at the House of Blues in Hollywood, California last night and I could have sworn that instead of being IN Hollywood, I was standing dead in the middle of Chelsea and Hollywood Avenue in North Memphis.

I thought I was still in North Memphis. I mean REALLY.

I mean...dang. The show started off cool. They had like 3 opening acts and finally Three 6 came on the stage. But, here's where everything went downhill from there.

As soon as DJ Paul & Juicy J started singing "Who Run It?" the Mexicans and Black folks started fighting. I think that was the last straw. I don't even know why. But that's beside the point.

After that "Lolli, Lolli (Pop That Body)" song, I didn't know. I kinda thought that Da' Low Down & Dirty Three 6 Mafia was sliding out the back door for a minute. They were Holly-hood and doing TV and stuff so I had to see if they still had it. I got the Lasr 2 Walk cd and I wanted to see how they rocked it.

I can take pride in letting the world know. They still GOT it. I mean they didn't even get to the most crunk part of the show before those folks started jackin'.

They killed the show in my opinion and I'm looking forward to the next one. The only part I'm not looking forward to is the 100 Los Angeles County Sheriffs with guns pointed at my face afterwards.

But hey, you know how it goes after them M-Town representaz put it down.

Young Buck To Host Tennessee Hip Hop Awards

Too bad I ain't home right now. I think I got nominated for something....but anyway. I guess. I need to keep grinding. Shouts out to the whole TENN-A-KEY!-L'Daialogue

Former G Unit artist and Nashville, TN native Young Buck is giving back to his community by being one of the sponsors of the first annual Tennessee Music Conference and Hip-Hop Awards. Young Buck collaborated up with Robert "Robski" Grady to sponsor the event, which is expected to bring in artists like 8-Ball, Project Pat, Yo Gotti, All-Star and more. Young Buck will also co-host the event with DJ Freddy Hydro. The event is being held September 6-7 and is expecting to be the most effective music-networking event to ever hit Tennessee.

“We want to honor and pay homage to the people who have helped to develop the TN Hip-Hop market to what it is, and work as a state to help to continue to build the market,” a statement from the events website site said, continuing, “This event will help to establish a foundation in which the TN music community can use to help grow and develop their careers in music.”

The main purpose of the 1st Annual Tennessee Music Conference and Hip-Hop awards is to honor and pay homage to the people who have helped to develop the Tennessee Hip-Hop market to what it has become, and work as a state to help to continue to build the market, and develop careers for artists, DJ’s, producers, media, promoters, and others in the state. This event will help to establish a foundation in which the Tennessee music community can use to help grow and develop their careers in music.

The event is also during the weekend of the John Merritt Classic in Nashville. Southern vs. Tennessee State Tigers as well as the Season Opener for the Tennessee Titans, so the event will be an added bonus to those in town and want to gain music knowledge, network, and have a good time.
