Mississippi stand up!!!!

Jackson, Mississippi native Skipp Coon's latest project Miles Garvey is definitely a project coming at a real time in the United States. Amidst the shootings of Mike Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, Ezell Ford in Los Angeles, California and John Crawford III in Beavercreek, Ohio right outside of Dayton at the hands of the police, this project is definitely speaking to the consciousness of the streets.

Now, don't get it twisted. Skipp Coon's project is talking about what's going on in the REAL streets today, not the "rap" streets that's portrayed on BET and other media outlets. And it's banging on top of that.

I've known of Skipp Coon long before he was Skipp Coon and he is spitting the same realness that he done on his previous projects, Sophomore Slump Vol. 1 & Women, Revolution and Tennis Shoes with his partner Mr. Nick.

There's not much info about the production on Miles Garvey. After a few listens, I really couldn't tell you if a simple production rundown even matters with a project like this. All I can say is that its that Southern-fried lo-fi based out sound that it embodies everything ThaOvaground and we co-sign it 1000 percent. Its gritty, soulful and pure edutainment in the words of the late great Curtis Mayfield.
