YOUNG MONEY'S DRAKE & HIS MEMPHIS CONNECTION...(AN OVAGROUND EXCLUSIVE!!!)

Soooooo,

Drake is probably one of the new artists that EVERYBODY is going to swear that they were up on way after he comes out with he upcoming project. Actually, the first person to put anybody up on Drake is my partna, Chris Foxx (of FoxxFiles.com) even though he SWEARS to this day that he didn't...and this a while back. And for proof a la Karrine "Superhead" Steffans (starting @ about 1:02 point AND another mention @ the 4:30 point)...let's shows the vid:

Since then, his mixtape "So Far Gone" is probably gotten the biggest buzz in the South since Young Jeezy's "Trap Or Die" and Gucci Mane's "The Movie".

He has single-handedly shut down Funkmaster Flex and Angie Martinez in NYC as well as other shows around the states. So, I guess you're wondering: How is Drake connected to Memphis, Tennessee?

And I know...people are always like I connect anything music-related to Memphis. But, this is different.

His father is a Memphis native, born and raised...and his mother is from Canada. That's enough right there to let you know where this dude is coming from.

Also, his uncle is Mabon "Teenie" Hodges!

Mabon "Teenie" Hodges...*crickets*???? Anybody know???

You don't know Mabon "Teenie" Hodges....of the legendary Hi Records in Memphis with Al Green and Willie Mitchell??????

Maybe you know his infamous guitar riff on this song: Al Green's "Love and Happiness" (and foot stomp...lol):

So, yeah...dude comes from some real M-Town stock AND that's much respected. I would like to think (and know) that his Southern swag definitely comes from his time in the city. Even in his recent article with URB magazine he mentions his M-Town roots (check out p. 41-42....it's interactive):

Also, not to mention past with the show Degrassi...dude has a resume. He is about the only dude I know that's cold on the lyrics and singing hard next to my mans, Phonte from Little Brother.

Number one of all...he's Lil' Wayne's ghostwriter!!!! Can you believe that??? So, that mean that a Memphis nigga was on your radio anyway through the lyrics...lol.

But, all I can say is check him out. He has a real interesting past and an alliance with one of the strongest brands in the game. You never know what's next coming from this kid. Maybe he has next? Maybe not? But, one thing is for certain: he has the net on fire mane...so, get with this Memphis stuff.
